Description: The recipe for Bavarian Apple Torte is in 3 parts as follows. Ingredients: Step 1 - Melt 1/2 cup butter, add 1/3 cup white sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 cup flour. Blend all these ingredients and spread over 9" springform pan. Step 2 - Mix 1 - 8oz. pkg. of cream cheese (mivrowave to soften) with 1/4 cup white sugar, 1 large egg and 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Once blended smooth, spread on top of crust from step 1. Directions: Step 3 - Mix 4 cups of sliced peeled apples with 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/3 cup white sugar and 1/4 cup almond slivers (or flakes). Toss these ingredients together and sprinkle over step 2. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 375 degrees for about another 10 minutes. Let torte cool down before serving. It's easy and guests love it.
