No but I have admired them. They are not reliably hardy in my zone.

I was told that if you dead head the flower after blossoming you can possibly get a second bloom.

Can anyone comment?

Sylvia, I've never deadheaded but these usually do bloom twice a summer for me. :)

Thanks for the tip Tanya! I just bought one about a month ago. It's in my rock garden, seems OK. Has alot of red edges, guess because of the sun.

Susan, my sister and I were talking and noted that the nurseries around here aren't carrying as many varieties as they have in the past...that's too bad. I don't know why that is either. The Lewisia that used to be found easily isn't around this year. Here's a catalog one for you...usually a last resort but I like this company. Lewisia Little Plum I'm not sure which cultivar mine is...
The one thing to be sure of Sylvia is that you give this one sharp drainage. It came as a small plant, say a 3" pot. I dug down about 12" and filled it with road gravel before setting the plant in. It has garden soil on all sides. Glad you have it now as I'm sure you'll enjoy it. :)

Mine is about the same, just mostly clay soil but with alot of beauty gravel mixed in.

We'll see if it survives.

Mine has survived for the last couple of years. Hasn't bloomed yet but it should soon.
