I'm hoping someone has a recipe for cherry and/or grape tomatoes. I have so many right now and we just can't eat them all! I would love to make pasta/tomato sauce with them. Has anyone ever using the smaller tomatoes in their sauce?

I make tomato sauce out of anything. I simply coarsly cut them up and fill a pot. Cook it for a while, then run it through a food mill to remove the seeds and skins. Put it back on the stove and cook it down to the consistency you want. I usually add garlic at the beginning so it gets sweet and mushed in the food mill. You can season with herbs, salt and pepper near the end to taste. It even makes a great simple tomato soup if you don't cook it down too thick. Sometimes I will add a bit of milk to make a more creamy tomato soup. Cherry tomatoes are more watery than most but makes great soup. The savior for me is the food mill! Couldn't do it without one. You know, the kind you crank by hand. As a matter of fact I made a big pot of sauce last night. You can freeze it or can it.

I just bought a new mill at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They only had one option, and it's not as big as I would like, but it worked well. You should be able to find one at any kitchen store or maybe even targe/walmart/etc.

Greg, I bought the same mill at BBBY and made your pasta sauce last week - what a wonderful, fresh taste! All day yesterday and today I oven-dried tomatoes to pack in oil for use all winter. I love the the sweet and nutty taste of them. Having a convection oven really helped speed the process. I just wanted to pass along a site that a friend sent to me who is also trying to make the best use of garden tomatoes. There are many recipes here waiting to be enjoyed: http://content2.williams-sonoma.com/recipe/recipedetail.cfm?objectid=01411425-C312-4F25-A2E4B4A5CFA3E777

Oven dried tomatoes are the best! We love them so much that they are never saved for later use! Last week a friend made us a delicious tomato tart using many kinds of tomatoes. I'll try to get the recipe so I don't forget any details. It was quick and easy. You've got to try this one! YUMMMEEEEE. And it can be served hot, cold or lukewarm and be delicious every way.
