See if this is your grass.
I have this one and it is called Miscanthus Cosmopolitan and I got it from Home Depot. It is just lovely. It has a wide green and white stripe on it. It doesn't photograph all that well. I have one in the front of my house that is large and starting to bloom. This little one was just put in a few months ago and has a few blooms ready to come out. It is quite showy from a distance, and looks way more white from a distance..

How big was the clump in question. I was also thinking of the one that Mary posted. However, some of the small clumps of fescue could resemble the look you're describing although they are considered blue in color.

There are so many kinds...I wouldn't dare to hazard a guess.

Some guesses:

- White Pampas Grass
- Miscanthus sinensis 'Graziella' - http://www.waltersgardens.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=plants.plantDetail&plant_id=926

You might like to see the site for Amber Waves Gardens. Their Grasses section has a lot of varieties and pictures. You might recognize the one you saw. Site: http://www.amberwavegardens.com/grass/maing.html

Luiza ..what a great site..and you are on to something..the height seems too tall but perspective is everything and driving by at 100 kms with traffic..I could be all wrong.. I'll call I think.. when the sun came though the clouds and hit the tips of these..it was magical!
Thanks again..
