oooh I hope I do get some flowers out of these next year since the parents were spectacular. I collected some seeds yesterday and sorted them by color. I'm kind of new at this but I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

Hopefully, they'll come true from seed - but if not, you'll have some fabulous new varieties!

Luiza you will be lucky to get the right colors from your seeds as a lot of cross pollination occurs. I just let them drop seeds on the ground and I get a million coming up the following season.

In my garden I also leave the plants to self seed, for 2 reasons, generally I dont get around to pull them out, and so they do it themselves. the other reason is that it seems to work very well doing so, so why bother changing, and I guess it also saves the trouble of sowing them in proper containers

That's it Marie. I won't mind not getting the exact same flowers. It will be interesting to see the variations.

I have collected some of my zinnia seeds this year too but have yet to containerize them - they are still in their collecting envelopes. Perhaps this week I'll get them stored properly. Isn't it a wonderful feeling to collect your own seeds? I still have zinnia's blooming - just a few but I think tonight's forecast of possible wet flurries will finish them.

Jodi collecting seeds is very rewarding and better yet is growing new plants from those seeds. Although I have grown various plants from seeds, so far the only plant I've grown from my own seeds is morning glory. Next year should be better. I now have a variety of seeds such as zinnia, daylily, snapdragon, coneflower and clematis.
