Next year I wanted to plant some salvia under my Climbing America rose. The plant I'm looking for is around 1 1/2 feet tall with dark purple flowers. I think I've seen a combination of it with white shasta daisies posted by Monique... I believe it's an annual in my zone. Anyone with pictures and a name please help :)

I love salvias, Luiza! The annual that I have planted for quite a few years is called salvia farinacea 'Victoria Blue'. I save seeds every year. If you want I could send some to you - just email me. Here is a picture - it's the lighter blue one. This photo is from 2004.
The other one that I just found this year that is a perennial but a low-growing one called salvia nemorosa Dwarf Blue Queen. Height of 12". I'm sorry I don't have a picture of it. I saw it growing at the nursery and it's lovely - darker purple flowers.

Thanks Susan. I sent you an e-mail. I see some pinkish flowers among the salvia which resemble the color of my rose. By the way do you start the seed indoors or directly outside?

I have salvia "bonfire" and it is the right height and as it's name implies it's bright red but a deep red - not an orange red. I have seeds I'd be happy to share with you. Just send me an email. It took me 5 months last winter to locate this variety and I finally got the seeds from England. I started them indoors and they were brilliant all summer.
