They seem to be getting better with age-like us! So I thought I would post an update. The edge on the silver leaf one sets off the interior color perfectly. And the detail of the edge with the silver marking looks like a perfect quilt stitch. It is so amazing that nature creates such details.

The other hederifolium are getting more texture to the leaf. They are not flat anymore. Hard to explain but hope you can see it in the pictures.

I am so glad I chose this group of plants to keep for admiring up close. Thanks for that tip Tim.

Thanks Carol, they are such a delight, every time I go into the room I land up staying longer to see what is happening with my seedlings. I have brought in many yesterday that I think need some extra growth before going into the garden. If you saw my room, you would think I lost my mind. Of course Tim would be so happy.

Ann, I don't think you have a choice. I am so excited about them I am probably torturing some of you with my ongoing posts and pictures.

But just to go on a bit more, one of my c. coum 'christmas tree' plants has three nice buds on it! I could not have imagined I would see flowers this soon. Of course with all I have growing, a pot or two may not be much, but it is nice to know I may be doing something right here.

Beautiful leaves, Terry, especially the silver leaf.

Could you please try to take a closeup of the central leaf in your photo one? It seems to be an very interesting aberration.

Thank you Matthias. I will try to get a better picture, do you have any hints for me as far as photographing goes? Should I set it on a macro setting or should I do zoom or both? My camera is a bit older-a Cannon PowerShot S20 3.3 mega pixels.

Of course now I have to go find that pot also!

Thank you Terry. What we see here is that the central vein splits up in the lower third of the leaf as if there were two leaves involved which, under normal conditions, are fused along their mutual central axis. The other leaves are not affected. Very interesting!!!

Glad it helped you see this one better Matthias. I think I have a few leaves here and there that appear to be doing some odd things. I have one that is partially split up the center of the leaf. If it gets a bit bigger, I will try to photograph that too.

What do you think causes these oddities in the cyclamen species?

Terry - I nearly always use my macro setting for anything closer than a foot away. The zoom often isn't as effective. Try different settings - you have great material to photograph!

Thanks for the tip Ann. I have been using the macro setting but sometimes it looks as if it is blurring the image.
