Pretty. Hopefully I get some flowers next fall. No snow on the ground yet , here in upstate NY. I did see snow flakes flying in the air today.

Oh Marie, how sad! You must want to run out and put a little cloche over them so they can be protected from that awful white stuff! By the way is this the plant you grew from seed and had it's first flower last year?

I think this is the first time I've ever seen C. hederifolium flowering through snow. No white stuff here, but it was -6 last night.

Hi Tim, good to see you back again. My goodness you had some cold temperatures there-it sounds more like my weather, we hit the upper 20F last night. At least we did not get any snow yet like Marie. Just out of curiosity, what temperature do you keep your glasshouses at during winter for your cyclamen?

These are 2 plants I got on special in late summer and planted before they leafed out and bloomed. They were a decent size, so tempting. We'll see how they manage.

Terry, I keep the glasshouses a few degrees above freezing - 3 or 4 degrees, something like that. Best described as frost-free rather than heated. Not too much happening here at the moment. There are a few hederifolium, mirabile and others just finishing. C. elegans is starting to flower, but will be another couple of weeks until it's in full flower. Won't be too long until coum starts though, We've had another hard frost here. As I type, I can see across the fields and everything is white. Will have to put the digging on hold for a few hours!

Thanks for that info Tim. We too had a cold night, down to 19F! That is much too cold for November. Good luck with the digging of your flood bench posts. Marie, keep us posted on how your plants do, I do hope my c. hederifolium and c. purpurascens are ok out there in the garden.

Terry, the ones I planted out last year are also blooming now, so yours should be just fine I think.

Yes they look cold there but they can stand it hopefully. We have had 3 or 4 nights of frost. It feels bitterly cold. Got lulled into a false sense of security with those very mild temps in October.

Well I just checked and things look fine for my c. hederifolium. I need to get a bit of soil or mulch around some the the purpurascens, they are exposed a bit, but don't seem to be bothered at all. My bed with the hederifolium have some fall crocus peaking out of the ground-the pink ones Ann that you said to "go for". Hopefully the get to bloom, I planted them late and it is a bit shadier than I had thought. Now that the leaves have fallen off the trees there they may get the sun they need. It will be nice to see crocus and c. hederifolium in late Nov/ December. If they bloom I will post a picture.
