6 weeks ago I cut off some very long floral trunks of some bigger C. purpurascens tubers to get more compact plants. This is what I found today in one of the pots: New growth at the base of the floral trunk plus many new growing points which can be activated sooner or later.

That's very interesting Matthias, please keep us updated on this. Are those tubers forming around the base of the floral trunk? If so, will you be separating them and at what point will you do this? Thanks for sharing this with us.

Terry, the tuber had only one awkwardly long floral trunk with a few leaves emering from the tip of this. You can see what I left of the trunk. The new growth is mostly around the base of this trunk but also all the whitish swollen little "bubbles" are potential new growing points, where leaves and flowers can start to grow. You can see some emerging growth in the background right corner. We get much compacter plants if we treat tubers with those leggy trunks that way. No, I will not divide this tuber because it is a valuable plant, but I will certainly experiment with some others.

Thanks Matthias for the clarification. When I first looked at the "bubbles" they looked like little tubers clustered together.
