Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and looking for some advice on the following clematis varieties: Silver Moon - Blue Angel - Andromeda - Cardinal Wyszynksi - Rhapsody - Charissima - Killian Donahue - Warsaw Nike - Viola I'm interested in knowing what your experience was in growing these varieties. Specifically I'm looking for details on disease resistance, height and bloom pattern. I'm curious too, about the actual color. Sometimes its listed as purple and other times, it might be listed as a deep burgundy - I'm talking about 'Viola', in this case. Thanks for any advice you can give me. Evelyn

I can tell you that I've had Silver Moon for two years now and it's growing in almost total shade and gives me flowers like this (kind of a silvery, lavender blue):
This will be its leap year.

Blue Angel is a delight for me here in Ontario, Canada. Warsawska Nike will be in its second year and is far more wine red than Viola. The photos at COTW that Jeanne suggested are a tremendous help.

I don't see any burgundy in my 'Viola'. It is purple, and always in bloom here with many new shoots every year... It is easy to grow--recommended by Bill Bird on the "clematis for beginners" list. This beginner has loved it!

Welcome Evelyn! This is Viola...a prolific and long blooming clematis. It will be in it's third year here this upcoming season. Rhapsody is a beautiful darker blue clematis that I have growing with Comtesse deBouchaud. I have some of the others you mentioned but they are quite young yet.

If you want no troubles then take viticella's but All these plant are very nice. You will never succeeded in gardening without troubles . All ways nature try something. If it is a bad summer you have with every plant troubles through heavy rain and wind .
