Another winner from my 1965 Pillsbury Bake Off cook book. This cake went to Bonitoad's house!
The pan is lined with a mix of brown sugar, butter, chopped walnuts and coconut, so that when it's baked you can taste the 'toasted' coconut. The batter has a little cream cheese in it, so it stays moist.

I'd be happy to share. (I just noticed that I paid 50 cents for the book and haven't found a recipe in it yet that wasn't a hit!) Butter Crusted Pound Cake 1/3 cup plus 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar 3 Tablespoons plus 1 1/2 cups sifted white flour 2 Tablespoons plus 3/4 cup white sugar 1/2 cup flaked coconut 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 ounces cream cheese (here in Canada I just use half a package - works out to 4 oz.) 2 eggs 1/4 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla Oven 325º F in a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan Combine in mixing bowl 1/3 cup butter, brown sugar, 3 Tablespoons flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, coconut and walnuts. Reserve 1/4 cup. Press remainder onto sides and bottom of a well-greased 9x5x3 inch pan. Chill while preparing cake. Sift 1 1/2 cups flour with baking powder and salt. Cream 1/2 cup butter and cream cheese. Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar; cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at the time, beating well after each. Add half the dry ingredients; blend well, using low speed of mixer. Blend in milk and vanilla, then remaining dry ingredients. Pour into pan. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Bake at 325º for 60 to 70 minutes until cake is golden brown and springs back when touched lightly. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan; cool completely upside down. It is somewhat rich, but then it's a pound cake, but the flavour is delightful. I hope you will enjoy it as much as my family does. My son-in-law gobbles it up!!

Oh my Diane does that ever sound good and look delicious. I will be making it soon. But I should make two and apply one to each "cheek" because that is where it will go. LOL
