I stopped by Costco on Friday and came home with two boxes of clematis. Madam Julia Correvon, H F Yound and Fireworks. The plants are supposed to be 1 year old. They are still babies but I think they have nice, healthy roots. Several had long white growth due to lack of light. I'm not sure what to do with that. Leave it alone or chop it off?
Anyway, here are my new babies.

Madame Julia Correvon is one of my favourites Luiza!
Keep them potted up until May. I keep mine near a basement window where they remain very cool...like about 55F. Your main concern should be their root development this year, not what you see above ground.

Only a few days have passed since I planted these and look how quickly they're growing. I even have one flower bud. Madame Julia is eager to put on a show.

Things are looking fine there! Look out for aphids on the tender new growth. I just had to spray with Safer's insecticidal soap today. :(

That is very nice but do not keep them to warm otherwise you will get plants of which the stem is not strong enough just as seedlings who grow to fast.

Marie, I'm sorry to hear of your bug problems. Maybe I should think about using some insecticidal soap as a precautionary measure just in case...

Susan I really love those flowers, and you’re right, that is a little bud you see there.

Roelie, thanks for the advice I will keep that in mind.

After reading your post, I went to my local Costco, but could not find any clematis there. :) Will check again this weekend.

I find that each store's selection varies. I would suggest checking another store if possible.

I was at Home Depot the other day looking at light fixtures, but I did see Nelly Moser there.
I find that there is usually something of interest no matter what nursery I go to and sometimes, great surprises!
