A friend just mentioned this Evison clematis to me and I can't find it locally. Does anyone know this vine and where it is sold? I was able to access Rogerson's profile of it which I found fascinating. Please also let me know how it performs for you. Thanks.

Thanks, Roelie. I had already looked at that site and also at Rogerson's article and now I'm looking for a nursery that sells it. The US sources listed on Guernsey's website don't list it as available so I'm hoping that somebody here will have a source. Fingers crossed. Counting the days until you're in Washington!

I did try it, but lost it after the first winter, though C. florida bicolor did thrive in my garden...
A friend of mine, and a teacher in a horticultural school, recommends it for..cut-flower arrangements !
The few blooms that I have seen had really fantastic shades of green and white..but I must confess that I'm very partial to white clems anyway, lol !...

If Debbie and I are on our way we can have a look if we see it. There is a complete difference between these two pist and bicolor

I have it but don't know if I have it or not Suze...springtime will tell the tale. It was very floriferous last season blooming most of the summer. It is supposed to be hardy but from what I gather from some of our GBs, it is tender. I sure hope it makes it!

Oh Deb, you're kidding me! Wahoo! I went to Silver Star Vinery first and couldn't find Pistachio listed. My heart sank. After searching everywhere on the internet and then the regional nurseries, the only one I could find locally was $40 and not very strong at that. But you, oh, you're somebody who can pull a rabbit out of a hat! Yippee - when does it bloom for you and how hardy is it and where do you have it growing? The GW clematis forum indicated a lot of concerns about its hardiness, as Sunny2Day does above. Needing one plant has expanded to needing 3. Oh vice!

Evirida/'Pistachio' is attractive, but is also probably the least reliable of the florida clan, unfortunately. At 40 dollars, - approximately 25 to 30 pounds sterling, I would be extremely reluctant about buying it unless you have a specialised florida collection. The species plant of florida is, in my personal opinion, a much better plant. If you must buy it, consider a pot (large!) as a possible best bet, so that you can give it some shelter when necessary. It does have the occasional habit of sprouting extra small flower-like growths from what would normally be the seed head, after the main flower is over.
Do NOT buy a 'not very strong one', as that is asking for trouble!

My Pistachio Evirida is still green...so far. I'm hopeful it lives up to it's professed zone...supposedly as low as zone 4.
