There seems to be some pretty good sources turning up... Here's yet another one...not just clematis, of course. :) http://www.gardencrossings.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=plants.new

Yes, Susan...I thought that too. Each day gets just a little more exciting as the garden season appoaches. I was a little heartsick to wake to snow this morning but I think it's gone already. March is always a love/hate deal here!

They are a catalog and will ship Saks...but if it isn't that far for you, it'd be a lot of fun to go there. I'd have to check it out and see if they have a visiting nursery or if they are mostly catalog sales. My sister and I have found some neat nurseries by just driving to a specific one and noting some neat ones along the way...so much fun!

Thanks for the new source Tanya. They do have lovely things. I am fortunate enough to have a hubby who garden shops with me. We always search out new greenhouses and after reading all of these postings I am ready to GO!!!

Congratulations Tammy! DH helps with some projects but doesn't share my enthusiasm for all my 'must haves'... He is always counting the days till football begins when our Lions will have a 'turn-around' season!

My DH has just retired and has been going to a few nurseries with me, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, we certainly come home with some "different" plants than I have in my head to buy but it's fun having his input. He loves pansies and they were on sale at the last nursery we visited, we now have a "pansy patch". I would have co-ordinated them for color but he just picked out one of each and they make a charming colorful corner in the garden. I'm enjoying their cheerful colors as much as he is.

Hmmm. I suspect when DH retires that it won't be clematis or pansies that capture his interest! But if it is any plant at all, I think I'll have to start him on one I love. Shouldn't be hard. ;-) Let's see, epimedium, erythronium, thalictrum, too many to list! By the way, our buddy David B was looking for Huldine, so I passed on the URL.

I've had the same experience as Penny. When DH accompanies me (with much complaining) to a nursery, we also come back with some unexpected plants. Pansies are also among his favourites, too. I'm trying to teach him to appreciate the ones with smaller blooms, as he tends to gravitate to the huge, floppy ones. Marie, I don't think you'll make much headway with epimedium and the others. As a rule, I think: Gentlemen prefer succulents.

My hubby favors hostas, delphiniums and hibiscus which definitely works to my advantage. His favorite comment to me in the summer is, "wherever the dirt is flying....there you are." Very cute comment about the succulents, Mara. I agree.

My DH is the kind of guy who to me says, "Where are you going to put THAT?!" When others are generous with their compliments to us he's beaming like crazy and telling me to "Give them a tour!"

Tanya, Your DH sounds like my best friend's hubby. He's a bit frantic when we pull in with a haul from the greenhouses, but always loves the end result of compliments it brings. Must be a "man" thing.

I go to the nurseries myself. If I have had a sister (like Tanya) interested in gardening and plants, yes maybe. Some years ago when I visited a nursery and came out 2,5 hours later with a lot of plants, DH said looking at me: You must be mad.......
