Wow..I am so excited...I have buds just everywhere and this morning Clematis "Daniel Deronda and Clematis "Empress" and Clematis "Snow Queen" gave me their first blooms of the season!!Here's Clematis "Daniel Deronda"
"Daniel's" color seems more intense and deeper this year than last...I topdressed with Composted cowmanure..dose of my Alfalfa Tea and Rose food...they seem to love it..wonder if the deeper color has to do with the cooler weather??Food for thought
Clematis "Empress"
Clematis "Empress" upclose...Can't wait to show you a pic when her Anthers are fully open..this is Year 2 for alot of my Clematis and 3 for a few...
I planted Clematis "Spooneri" last year and she is full of buds and this opened this morning..Hope you have enjoyed..Jeanne

Gorgeous, Jeanne ! My clematis are barely waking up from winter here, but I see leaf buds on some. Yesterday, I cleaned out the gardens from winter's wrath and fertilized everything. I'm dying for spring to really arrive here! We are beginning to have a few warmer days now and I'm loving it. It feels great to be outside working again. Suzy

What a sight! I'm glad if I see the first signs of life on mine. Daniel looks huge! Empress is so lovely. Needless to say it isn't available in Europe.

Yes a lovely sight and lovely photos. You have such a long growing season Jeanne! I'm so envious. It'll be about two months before my Snow Queen has flowers. I've paired my S.Q. with The President. They have the same thick stems and are textured both, holding their heads high!

Jeanne, that Empress is a dainty looking one...love that in a flower! Oftentimes the 2nd year tells the tale colorwise. I've seen some almost bizarre colorings on those initial blooms. Ingmarie...those two looking awesome together!

I love that Pairing too Ingmarie...so stunning together...that is my next project is pairing!!. I love Clematis..they just give a show all during the growing season..I woke up this morning and I had Clematis "Asao" and "Ramona" opening their blooms..this just keeps getting better and better..I am sure all my neighbors heard me squealing with delight..silly me... Here is Clematis "Asao"
I just love the intense florescent shade of pink on it and the illuminating bars..didn't someone show pics last year of it as a double or semi-double??
Then there is "Ramona" showing off her first blooms on my baby plant!!
I was never crazy about blue..but am loving the various shades of blues in all the Clematis...

Ramona is so sweet..... Jeanne! David Austin's roses in the colour ranges apricot, peach, orange and copper must be perfect to the colour of your house and to your clematis. Crown Princess Margareta, Pat Austin, the new ones The Generous Gardener, Jubilee Celebration and The Shepherdess just to mention a few of them. It's amazing that your garden is so new. It looks very mature and lovely.

Very nice pictures from all of you, thank you for sharing and giving us all something to look forward to. Like others here, my Clematis are no where near ready to flower, they are just starting to get leaves and/or leaf buds. I have pruned and fertilized them all at least, as we had some very nice weather here the last two weekends - though with more wind than I like. We may still get some snow, too. I planted Ramona last year, but I see no signs of life at this point; I may have lost her. :-( Glad your baby plant is doing so well, Jeanne. I may try growing Ramona again, but have ordered about 7 or 8 more Clematis, due to arrive here in May; not sure I'll have room for another. Happy gardening, everyone! My project for this week is to put in some raised beds for vegetables. It's still too early to plant anything here, so I am keeping busy cleaning up after the winter, planning for the summer, and waiting for reliably warm weather. Holly
