Hi! I'm new to this forum and haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. I have three old large wooden spools from the electrical company that I want to turn into tables for the yard. I would like to paint a flower of some type on the top with Patio Paint, then will cover with a clear acrylic. Where do I find a pattern or is there such a thing?

I like the idea Donna. I've seen some clever things done with these wire spools but I couldn't come up with anything when I Googled. You might want to ask this question in the craft forum. Good luck to you. :)

You could always buy a large stencil..Or you could make one yourself:)

Thanks for the advice on the stencils! I was trying to avoid that! I went to both our paint stores and they no longer carry stencils - say "they don't pay for the space they take." No craft stores in town - so - since I'm impatient - I'll just free hand and hope for the best! We live in rural Nevada and are 180 miles from the nearest Walmart so you can guess how "rural" we are! I appreciate your advice!

I don't know how simple you want to go, but one thing I have used before for a pattern is a young child's coloring book. One that has big areas to color in..nothing too complicated. If you have access to a copy shop or copy machine you could enlarge it. You might have to tape several pieces of paper together to kind of stitch it if you don't have paper big enough.

I did a little online search and also came up with some examples. I am sure there are more. Search for "coloring page" with whatever other word you want like "flower".

I like this one and think it would be great on your table top

And another neat one

And here was something I found when I used the words flower and template to search:

THANK YOU SUZY! This was exactly what I was looking for! I just didn't come up with the right key word in Google! Can't believe I didn't think of the kids coloring books! In the winter months, I like to make things with my scroll saw. I've bought kids coloring books with large simple pictures and used them to cut wooden puzzles for the grand kids.

Yes, Suebee! I know I'll love it here! I do already!
