Also known as Water Willow. A plant hardy to at least z5, spreading gently via stolons. Mine is planted like all my marginals, in a pocket filled with pebbles, no soil. The white creeping thyme provided an unexpectedly pleasant vignette as these two bloomed simultaneously this year:
And a close-up of its flower:

There's so much to admire in the first picture. The water willow of course (which I'd not heard of before), the thyme and other plants (is that bugle?). No less the beautiful weathered stones and the bricks.

Thanks, Mara. Yes, it is bugle, or ajuga, taken from my parents' garden and divided every year. The bricks are conveniently from a nearby street when they paved over them, though the stones I had to purchase with that look!

The scenes are so beautifully landscaped, Mike! What a gorgeous close up of the Water Willow flower.

The composition of the first picture is perfect. All your plants are always in the exact spot where they can complement each other.

I have to confess that when I first saw the title of the thread I wondered why you had chose this forum to house a rant against Guantanamo...

This comment had me laughing over my morning coffee! I choose to rant against the current administration in other boards, but it does make me wonder where the name came from!
