Hi, I'm Calvin and new to the gardenbuddies. I enjoy the beautiful pictures and vast experience people have here. I got the plant seeds from someone else last year. Anyone knows its name?

Plant Forum

My experience with it: it's tolerant to poor soil; resistant to drought condition; to 1.5 m high, not dense as dahlia; start blooming about end of June to frost.

Anyone interested in its seeds let me know. Last time I send other seeds to friend, it was crashed by mail processing machine, stamping? Any simpler idea to mail seeds?

I think what you've got there is called Cleome Calvin. But I could be wrong. Lets see what everyone else says. There is a simple way to mail seeds without them getting crushed. Bubble mailers! Manila envelopes that are lined in the inside with bubble wrap. I have cut a large envelope down to smaller sizes and used these successfully to mail seeds. You can also just use regular bubble wrap inside of a sturdy envelope..just make sure the wrap stays around the seeds. Usually you have to pay a bit extra for these "fat" envelopes so that they won't put them through the machines. Ask at the post office they will tell you.

It's a smart way to cut a large bubble envelope to smaller ones for seeds.

Thanks!

Yes, your plant is Cleome. It grows well from seed and will self seed if left, and is an annual in my part of the world. I have seen them in pink, white, and purple and they make a nice showy mix.

Welcome to Gardenbuddies, by the way - I am sure you will like it here!
