I've grow a few ornamental oreganos including 'Kent Beauty', which I have in a pot. The plant from this pot apparently dropped a few seeds into another pot, and these volunteers came up unintentionally. I potted three of them up, and have noticed that one of them looks much pinker than the others.

Anyone else seen anything like this? Or, does anyone else grow this plant? It could have crossed with one of the others, I suppose, but so far I like the effect.

The original KB plant:

Typically, the bracts aren't pink like this. Any thoughts?

Wow...that is curious. What pretty plants they all are...that darker pink one is pretty special, mutant or not. I'd keep some seeds from it, for sure.

Could have been bees. I would also expect variation even without hybridization from seedlings. Most plants sold with names must be vegetatively propagated to justify the name. Is 'Kent Beauty' a strain or a name that represents identical plants? I like your new seedling very much.

I believe it does. I am rooting some of it to see how it (the color) survives over time. Of the ornamental oreganos, KB is one of my favorites, and this dark one even better.

It's a keeper! So far, KB doesn't like my garden. I thought it was gone but I found two little flowers last week. Hopefully, I can save it so it can look like yours.
