As you can see, insect damage is not the only activity here.

Tim that white caterpillar with the brown head could be a Ghost Swift moth. The adults are beautiful. I try not to kill anything (I even gather snails and take them for a long journey in the car). If they were eating my prize cyclamen I might think differently...

Joseph, that sight makes my heart sink. I know it so well. Have you tried stuffing garlic cloves in with the corms? I've found it works - but of course your plant will be surrounded by garlic leaves, and flowers, which may not be the look you were hoping for.

This seems to be a wide spread problem. Joseph, looks like Ima Digger has been tunneling beneath your Cyclamen tubers. Tim, I posted your picture to look for identification. Ann, it looks similar but I'm not convinced with the spots shown here. http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=2692

Yes Carol, you are right. I don't think the moth is the culprit. Phew!

This is what I found eating the leaves. It was at night so the picture quality isn't good. There were two of them which were exterminated immediately. eaten foliage

Carol, This appears to be your culprit. This one is a climbing species and munches on leaves rather than cutting off the entire stalk like its nastier cousin. http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B2GGGL_ enUS177&q=%20variegated%20%20cutworm&oe=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi
