I have some fairly large hederifolium tucked behind the rocks bordering the Helleborus croaticus bed and the seed I missed from these plants has now germinated. You can see from the photos that there are seedlings right on top of the parent tubers and I will pull these out, but there are also seedlings well away from the parent plants and all of these will be left alone. There is one silver leaf seedling in the bottom of the last photo.

Look at them all, they sure are abundant seed producers. No wonder it is not recommended to plant with coum. If the original plant does not overtake the coum, the seedlings must!

They are prolific little blighters aren't they!? Simple question - as you know I have alot of these seedlings around that huge tuber in my raised bed. They are in leaf now but when will be the best time to transplant them?

If it's mild Ann, you could do it now. Try to get a little plug of soil around the small tuber to minimise the shock of the move. Better still, lift a clump of three or four and plant these clumps around, then you know at least one of them will survive. You can always weed some out if the whole clump survives. That's what I would do.

They look great , Tim! Is it too much of a good thing? I don't think I could remove seedlings without planting them elsewhere or potting them up.
