Roelie, is that just one clematis ?
Do they spread and grow into a big clump?
Also, when you plant the seedlings do you plant deeper than their pot depth as you do with the climbers?

btw, they are really lovely.

That is my Joe Zary. I am never sure between it and Dr. F.L. Skinner so I have to look back at my picture files to check. Both of them are blooming now. Also found Crimson Star blooming but we are in a cold wet snap and so nothing is opening very well.

Clematis heracleifolia plant is a second year in my garden but had been in a pot before. It will bloom well if we get some warm weather.

Joe Zary is so appealing.

The heracleifolia I received as a small 1-yr. plant was chlorotic. Being planted and fertilized helped, though I saw a whole chlorotic row of them in a botanic garden this summer (full sun; are they not full sun plants?).

These are great pictures, thanks everyone! So nice to see how they all look. Your heracleifolia is a bit ahead of mine Clayton, we need more heat I think.
I've got some seedlings of Cote d'Azure and Eclips so it's wonderful to see them as mature plants.
I'm finding several of my heracleifolia types (speciosa, speciosa pink, heracleifolia, tubulosa, Cote d'Azur, Eclips) tend to have pale leaves. I gave them a dose of epsoms salts and that fixed it immediately.

yes I feed culterra , then normal fertiliser and 1 osmocote.
Last year when I was not there the did not got manure and enough water .The Wyevale, New Love ,Cote d'Azur Pink Dwarf and another blue one tell you later which disapeared. May be they got to old. I had them about 8 years but every year the came back less.
