During our visit to Marlene and Dereks..we were served a lovely lunch.Everything was delicious..But I had never had this salad.I made it for our daughter's shower and it was a hit there also. Meg has asked for the recipe..The Hill Family graciously accepted to share: Broccoli Salad 2 heads of Broccoli 1 red onion chopped 10 slices of cooked crumbled bacon 1 red or yellow pepper chopped 1/2 cup of raisins 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds a few radishes sliced grated cheese to taste (optional..I didn't and I don't think they did) Dressing 1 cup Hellman's Mayonnaise 2 tbsps vinegar 1/4 cup of sugar Enjoy!

I make this, but minus the radish. I absolutely love it.

Thank you Monique, I appreciate your efforts. I have one similar but it has both Broccoli and Cauliflower. I will try the new way. I know we will love it. Meg

Just one more little secret to add; you can add some pinenuts instead of the sunflower seeds for a tasty variation. And ,personally,(don't tell Marlene though) I usually add in a "few" extra slices of crunchy bacon

My sister makes this minus the yellow pepper, radishes and cheese. It was a big hit at DD's graduation open house.

Now Monique, what about adding small squares of cheese to replace the bacon for the vegetarian BF? No silly, not mine, DD's!

This sounds really good! I might try it with fat free mayonnaise and balsamic vinegar. Thanks Monique and Derek!

I was a little skeptical, but made up the recipe just as it's written (minus the cheese as well). It is scrumptious! Thanks for posting it!

I make a variation of this also, but I am anxious to try it with all of these ingredients, well, not the jalepenos, EJ. Hmmm...I think I will do that today! Thanks all!

I'm with Julie . . . Jalapenos are way too mild! I'd add some Thai Dragons or maybe some Habanero!

I'm sold. I'm going to make it to bring to a party tomorrow. I assume the broccoli is chopped and raw, right? small florets or even smaller pieces?

how small to chop it I am wondering? I guess it doesn't matter too much. I bought 3 "crowns". They didn't look too big.

Keep the pretty florets pretty well intact..If they can fit comfortably in a bite-size,, the rest chop to make small pieces. The florets are the FLOWERS of this delicious salad.

I brought this to a Packer's game tailgate last Sunday. It rained and we ate in the car! The salad was delicious. My daughters both loved what was left.
