I really want to look into getting some daylilies but don't know where to start. Do you get them locally or do you order them on-line and if so can anyone suggest some reputable places ? Thanks

Most of mine have come from local nurseries, but I've also gotten some from Oakes and Wayside. Lately I've been limiting myself to a line called 'Trophytakers'. They're supposed to be star performers and so far I've found that to be generally true. Check out this link for sources: http://www.happyeverappster.com/trophytaker/

Mine have come from local nurseries also, and friends like Sue. You can find them in lots of places online too. Good luck.

There are good local sources and a host of great online sites. Here is one that belongs to a good friend of mine. Her prices are good, big healthy fans and she sends excellent bonuses! Plus, she is struggling financially and could really use the business. http://daylily.net/gardens/earlybird/ Wanda

I think the best thing to do is get a Eureka Daylily Reference Guide. They are shipping the 2003 book now. That will give you a good idea of price ranges. Then you can bid on the daylily auction and know if the price is reasonable or not, also they have reputable growers listed with plant prices and descriptions. People trade on the Daylily Exchange and I think many people on these forums sell their excess lilies. http://66.70.38.191/cgi-bin/auction.cgi? Clary, A good place to look is "the Lily Auction, lots of pictures, daylilys from 20.00 and under, to 20.00 and over and newer ones in the last 2 years. The ones you get at local nurserys tend to be pretty old. You could always hit up Keets I know she plans to sell some this spring, and you know she has some beautys. Good hunting and let us know what you find. Jeanie

Clary, here is another place to try. Charlotte's Daylily Diary. She has all the hybirdizers and keeps her site updated. You can find just about everyone here. Enjoy. Check out the Yost's site, I know them personally and they are great people. Also look at Jack Carpenters site, I ordered from him this summer, first time I had ever ordered from a hyberdizer, when the order came I was in heaven. Beautiful plants and awesome bonus, I sent another order right away, same thing. I even had enough of two of them to shared with my sisters. I just can't wait until spring to see them bloom. I had a big yard sale last year and used the money to purchase daylilies,I was able to get some of the newer ones. http://www.abacom.com/chacha/cddheader2002.gif

I can vouch for Earlybird Daylilies. I have traded with Robin on the Daylily TradeMart and have received some really nice plants from her. I like ordering from people who have really cold winters like we sometimes have--seems the plants settle in better for me here. I don't get a lot of daylily catalogs but sure do a lot of surfing on different sites. Charlotte's site is wonderful for addresses. Need to get busy and make labels for the new ones (to me) that I added this past season and need to update my daylily album. Maybe when Christmas is over--------------

Thank you, Susyq! And I love your dog! We have a black & white border collie that is similar but with a little more white.
