Subject: Bean Recipe

Dice and Fry: 1/2 # bacon 2# hamburger and 1 large Onion

Add: 1 can Tomato Soup
2-8oz Tomato Paste
1 Cup Catsup
3 teas Dry Mustard
1 cup Brown Sugar
1 Tablespoon vinegar
Salt and Pepper

1 Large Can Pork and Beans ( 3 Small)
2 cans Kidney Beans
1 can Lima/ Butter Beans
Drain the lima and kidney beans, save juice and add if needed. Don't want this to be to runny.
This will make a very large pot of beans. Sometimes if I have canned red beans I add them also.

Opps! it was to late I had already posted and sent. it is supposed to be Crowd!! And I forgot one important ingredient!! A pinch of baking soda, helps keep the gas factor down.
This is the recipe that we use for our dahlia society luncheon. I also added small red beans and red kidney beans. Some people add black beans, they just don't happen to be my favorite.

Sounds really good. I would kick it up some with cayenne pepper and probably throw in a can of garbanzo beans too. I really like garbanzos. The black beans sounds good too. Actually, any firm bean that will stand up to the cooking without disintegrating would be great.

I have a sort of similar recipe but it includes 1/4 cup of maple syrup. I also add 1 can of drained sliced water chestnuts and some mushrooms....I mix it all up, heat through, and freeze it in smaller casseroles for later. To serve, I put it in the oven for about 1/2 hour at 350 F.
