I was given a small piece of this plant this year and it is just now starting to bloom.
I think if it was in the sun it probably would do better.
The aroma from the flower is just wonderful and I read that it is used to make expensive perfumes and I can see why.

Mary, this appears to be Hedychium coronarium. It actually doesn't want full sun--it does best in dappled shade, and the one I grow indoors in a pot even blooms every year (it is blooming now). But it does like regular water.
