I am so excited to have finally captured one of these on "film". She sure was a beauty.
I didn't check this gal out the next day but my brother left a note saying this is what he saw. She had another like her wound up in the web. I wish I could have caught them both alive :(

Orb weavers are mysterious, aren't they. We had one in our garden last year and it scared me at first, but then I started watching it and was fascinated. Great shots!

WOW DW....I didn't know they would make lunch out of each other-what a surprise. That is what I am seeing am I not? Great photos of the very startling but spiffy looking Black-and-yellow Argiope. I have a pix of a Silver Argiope that I saw while visiting Texas that I will try and find in my files to show you...

VERY strange Dw...I guess it's survival of the biggest and boldest! I found the photo of the Silver Argiope for you...here she is. As mentioned this was taken while in Texas-I've never seen one of this variety up here in Ontario. We do have many of the B/y's though-they make a colourful addition to the garden to say the least! Just noticed typo in name on my photo below-lol! Should be aRgiope-must fix that!

Carol, Great shot! What a neat looking spider. I don't think we have these Golden ones in CA b/c I have never seen one here, I took these pictures at my parents house in GA.
