Our local paper had this recipe and I tried it. I really like it for a change from cranberry sauce. I can't substitute it for cranberry sauce in our house, but I'll serve it as well as cranberry sauce. I used less curry and it was fine for us. I also made HALF the recipe. CRANBERRY-PEAR CHUTNEY 1 pound fresh cranberries 4 pears, each weighing about 8-10 ounces 1 6-ounce red onion 1 cup apple cider 3/4 cup sugar 4 tablespoons honey 1 each cinnamon stick 2 tablespoons curry powder 1 pinch kosher salt Seed and core the pears and cut into 1/2-inch dice. No need to skin them. Peel the red onion and slice off the top and the root ends. Chop the red onion into small dice; you'll have about 1 cup of chopped onion. Put all the ingredients in a heavy-bottomed, non-reactive pan. Heat to simmer over medium-high heat. Let the ingredients simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. The chopped pear should be soft. If it's not, cook an additional 5 minutes more. Remove the pan from the heat. Let the ingredients cool for 15 minutes. Pack the chutney in a plastic container with tight-fitting lid. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Yummmmmmmmmm, that sounds great! Another thing that is great on pork roast is roasted garlic & onion jam from Stonewall Kitchens. I know you don't have it in the UK, but you could make up the same sort of mishmosh. http://www.stonewallkitchen.com/prdmultisell.aspx?L0=SpecialtyFoods&L1=Preserves&L2=Savories There's also some good recipes at the site. I'm getting hungry!
