Last year, I began seeds of columbine; very sporatic germination. Plants grew to about 3" then died back. I moved the 4" pots to a storage area. This spring, needing pots for transplanting, I found three healthy plants growing. With no care and no water all summer; how did these survive?

Rain1950, that one I can't answer, we have seen this too. It just surprises the heck out of me to abuse them like this and they reward you like crazy. They must store what they need and then take off like crazy in the spring.
