Yes Otnorot, they are ours, the two we have no clue of were open pollinated. It's just interesting to see what the bees can do too. We have some blue ones that we are going to be digging up this fall and will offer them in the states.

Love the second one! What do you mean by "we are going to be digging up this fall and will offer them in the states."?

Terryk, if you would like any of my lovely columbines I'll do them for postage. I suppose I could cut back and did now if you would like. Mainly I have lots of blues and a few of the deeper red purples that I was planning on composting. This year I'm not going to be doing any crosses but if folks would like open pollinated seeds, just let me know. I'm crossing Hostas,Callalilies, Brugmansia and Daturas this year mainly. It could be an interesting year with the adding of 5 mason bee homes to the yard.

Oh, Karma, I would love that blue one with the markings. It looks like it is a cream or light green marking. I will pm you later tonight when I get home, I am sneaking at work!

Hi Karma, I also love some seeds from the blue one with the markings, the first one and the last one. I have also a lot of Aquilegia-seeds if you would like to swap. Thanks, Astrid (astrid@rent-al.nl)

She's quite a bit ahead of me bloom-wise, but once I get some unfurled, I'll take some pix as well. I have a few open-pollinated blues similar to hers whose seeds I'd be happy to share. I'm saying this now because I won't remember to make the offer in a few weeks, but the offer's open to any who want it. The first cross is especially nice in its depth of color!

Terryk, the one you requested I have one baby of and I think I can get it without any problem.
I will have a few of these blues in this shade and a bit darker to offer.
I will have just a this one.
Plus this one with a little more white.
Here is one of our seed beds with the darker colored seedlings.

Those last 2 (or are they the same?) are great. I'm a sucker for that kind of coloring.

Yes Mike, I wanted to show how it changes. That one is always the first to go out of the yard. We are only down to that one. I guess I better sow more seeds as I have a little left from 2 years ago. Terryk, I could always send seeds! Will mark a couple more!

Thanks so much! How do you keep them from crossing and do you know if your seed will be true or will it be a surprise? I hear they are as bad as hellebores in crossing!

Terryk, when one focuses on hybridizing you have to get out there before they really open to insure nothing got there first. Then you tape or tie the flower so nothing gets in. This is my year not to play with these as I have to focus on a couple other items. Yes hellebores are really hard also. I have gone to the point to cover the ones I have pollinated so the bees done get those, have you tried cheese cloth?

I can't go down the road of hybridizing, seed sowing is out of hand as it is!
