could someone please tell me - If I want to take seeds from one of my columbine how do I do this exactly? Once the flower is finished do I wait for the seed pod and then pick the seed pod off and then let it dry or do I have to let the seed pod dry up on the plant first?? Hope someone can help me with this? Thanks so very much. Golden

Let the seed pods form on the plant, you will only need one or two as they have many seeds per flower. As they begin to swell, keep an eye on them. Once you see the pods starting to crack open, take a bowl and snip the flower pods into the bowl. This way you are sure to catch the seed. Two great sites for seed sowing- http://tomclothier.hort.net/page02.html http://www.theseedsite.co.uk/seedpods.html

As the flower petals fall off, the seed pods will be exposed as you can see in the picture below. Wait for these to dry. They will turn a brown color and little black seeds will be visible inside. At that point just turn them over and the seeds will all fall out.
