I am a biology teacher, so I want to have as many living things in my class room as possible. Unfortunately, my room only receives morning sun. Right now I supplement with some standard clamplamps and 23W (100W equivalent) regular twist fluorescents. What is the best way to supplement lighting? I prefer to stay with affordable clamp lamps rather than expensive plant lighting stands. Can I use clamplamps (rated for 150W) with mercury vapor bulbs? Would they help provide benefits? Would I have to worry about students being exposed to the light? Eventually I would like to have a collection of rather large plants and numerous bright light specimens, so I'm sure they need help to get through the school year...
Thanks in advance,
Zach
