I was wondering what your oldest houseplant is, and the age as well. Mine is Dracaena fragrans, 22 to 24 years old. It bloomed for me last May and was so spectacular and fragrant! I will never forget that! So, let's hear it. Tell us about your oldest houseplant.

My oldest houseplant is a Golden Pothos. It's probably about 15 years old and has withstood 2 moves. Unfortunately, a few years ago when the plant was on top of the refrigerator and the vines were actually going completely around the kitchen on top of the windows, etc, I did a stupid thing and decided to re-pot it. It was a good idea, but I left the plants outside in the sun before putting them in another pot, and a lot of the vines died, but they are back doing fine now. Janet

Hi Janet, You and I share the same plant zone, 9! Wow, 15 years for a Golden Pothos, that is great. Are they once again hanging on your window tops? Would you believe I have a Golden Potho, in pot, living for at least 4 years now, making it thru winters. Hi Tommy, That's great! How tall is your Sheff? Is it variegated? Other people out there, let us know what your oldest indoor plant is!

My Sheff is only about 3 feet tall, I had to prune her back 2 years ago, she was getting too leggy. It's not variegated. I know of one at work that is at least 8 feet tall, the woman wants to give it to me but I have no place for it. It's a monster! Tom

We have a Potho that was a gift when our son was born some 22 years ago but my prize plant has to be my 7 foot Milk cactus that greets folks at the front door. We have many plants over 15 years old, hoyas to cactus.

Tommy, maybe yours is a dwarf version? Thanks for sharing. Hey Karma, That is so nice that you have a plant to relate to the birth of your son. Had to google milk cactus to see what it looks like. Very nice. Has it every bloomed for you? Love to learn about new and different plants daily from everyone! Karma, please share what other plants you have that are over 15 years old. I am certainly interested! :) Others?

Pink, No, I just keep it in a 10" pot, I've seen HUGE Sheffs, tree like! 8 foot monsters! A lady at work has one 8 feet tall, HUGE leaves and wants me to take it. I have NO room or I'd take it in a minute.

Hi Tom, that's too bad you could not take that Sheff 8 footer home. :( Kathy, wow! I had to google climbing onion, that is one cool plant! That is incredible your barrel cactus is 50 years old. How often does it bloom and what color? Terrific stuff here. Please yall, keep this thread alive with "What's Your Oldest Houseplant"

Pinkdamsel, even though my Barrel Cactus (Echinocactus grusonii) is 50 years old, it has not bloomed for me yet, maybe I'm too far north or something. I do have a Gymnocalycium saglione that's about 16 years old, about 8" across, and just finished flowering with pinkish/flesh-colored blooms. Kathy
