I have this house plant that since I'm a novice, I have no idea what it is. I've divided it, but now some of the older parts can't support it's own weight. How do I 'go back' to a smaller plant? This is the older plant that sort of lays down.
I want to go back to smaller like when I first got it and it stood up and looked pretty. Can I just "lop" off the top and put it in water to reroot? Or do I take off the lower leaves and bury the rest of the stalk? I'm sooo a novice.

That plant is a sanseviera or family of the snake plant. They propagate very well. They are in the family of succulents. Yes, what will happen often is they will get heavy and fall over. Take off the outer leaves and see what happens. They like dry to arid soil and can become moldy if overwatered.

Yes you're right, just take off a few of the lower leaves and maybe make a cut across the stem, then replant. Keep it fairly dry at first until it makes some roots, then it should start growing new leaves. They are wonderful plants! Good luck with yours.
