I am trying my hand at growing a Hoya. Can someone tell me what they like? My friend gave it to me but didn't tell me how to grow it.

Bumping this up. I didn't see your post until now Alicia, my friend. I'm hoping a knowledgeable Gardenbuddy will know some good growing information. Actually, I think I grew this once. Does it have real thick leaves? I'm wondering if it needs a lot of sunlight and not much water???? I could be Really wrong about that. (Alicia, I'm visiting family in Madison now but I will write you soon. I'll e-mail you!)

Alicia, do you know what hoya it is, i'm no expert but I have bella and carnosa. Both seem to like a bit of neglect, not a lot of water and a gritty compost. Also reasonably warm conditions, with sun in winter and indirect bright light in summer.

Here's a link to a great site for info: http://www.succulent-plant.com/hoya.html I was struck by the hoya craze this year big time. :) Donna

I am not sure what kind of Hoya it is. I don't really know anything about them but a friend of mine gave me a stem off of hers in April and it is growing nicely and I it is aw beautiful plant. How long before it blooms?

Alicia it all depends on the growing conditions you give the hoya. I know that they like to have their roots crowded. Here is a link on how to start cuttings: http://www.hoyaplants.com/growingtips.htm http://www.swedishhoyasociety.com/eng/hoya.htm http://www.international-hoya.org/culture.html
