I finally saw the Hydrangea Fireworks Blue and Pink. I was looking under something else on that website and couldn't find it! Then looking again, I remembered you said Fireworks and I was looking for Shooting Star/ They are beautiful! I wonder if they are in the USA, I guess I'll check it out. Perfect indoor/ outdoor plant (zone permitting).

Hi Franco, you may be our youngest gardener here, wow a mire 14, that is great! You asked about price. I purchased mine in mid to late December at Whole Foods Grocery Store, but didn't pay quite what you did. Post a pic so we can see yours. It sounds very beautiful. As I said earlier, mine is white with hues of blue. The blue/pink depends on the acidity in the soil. Keep us posted!

Yeah, I know im young, but i get everything from my parents, they are just too lazy to join themselves !! :) I would love to post some pics, but i nor my parents have a working camera ... Although i wish we did because i wanted to take pics and show everyone in the cyclamen forum, at how i have succeded in growing c. persicum and have about 5-6 healthy plants now, that are even giving me seeds !! ( They are also being grown inside !! ) I have had them for almost 2 months, compared to how i was never able to keep one alive for more than a week :) But now i am begining to ramble off topic here, so ill try to shut my trap for the moment, lol !! :)

Hi Franco, I think I better check out my super food markets to see where they might be. I think 14 is a super age to be growing plants. There is nothing more rewarding to me than to plant a seed or root a cutting and see it grow. As there is only so much control one has for causing these amazing miracles to grow.

Here's an update on my Shooting Star. I repotted my plant, then moved it outside in March sometime. Shortly thereafter, the leaves began to fall off. I now have new growth and it seems to be doing fine. I hope I can see blooms again this year!

I bought a Shooting Star Hydrangea at Trader Joe's in Southern CA just after Christmas. So beautiful, I too decided to try to save it and bring it to my Cape Cod garden IF after it lost its blossoms and leaves, it began to cycle and bud out. It finally did just that and I left it on my patio in full sun with temperatures nearing 90 degrees in April. With blossoms in bud, I squashed in my carry on suitcase and flew it with me to the Cape. It is in full bloom and I will try to harden it off gradually and plant it in a protected spot in my garden. I have a 100 yr. old Hydrangea hedge along the side of my property and one greenhouse grown raspberry pink Hydrangea that has survived year round in this climate. I hope my luck will continue.

Wow, That's amazing! I must start looking for one of these locally. And capecodfish, I would love to be in Cape Cod right now myself! I haven't been there since I was 29 with my sister and mother. My mom flew me out to Rochester to visit another sister and help drive her and my younger sister home from Owego, New York. I left two little children home with their dad and closed my daycare. It was a wonderful 3 week trip. Ran out of time when DH and I took 3 children to the east coast when the eldest was 16. I had them on a very tight schedule, but I didn't take into account 5 people sharing one bathroom at the different hotels we stayed at. We flew into Dulles airport, rented a van and traveled up to Owego to see my eldest sister and she was our home base to go up to Niagara. We took in Ellis island, statue of Liberty, New York City, Baltimore, DC, and passed up Plymouth Rock. Then the two younger children or teens flew home from Dulles and DH, and my eldest son went on to Atlantic City and Philadelphia. We had a business association meeting in Atlantic City, but went into Philadelphia 3 times to see a Koi Keepers pond that has a glass window in his basement connected to the side wall of the koi pond. We found out then that he had opened up a koi store and and then he told us about his pond on the 12th floor of this parking lot. Come to find out, he owns many parking garages in Philadelphia! No wonder he knew people in the concrete industry to help put this window in his pond! LOL

Hi Emily, Glad you joined us! That is great your shooting star "made it" thru that turmoil. Pretty hardy huh? I'd love to see a pic of it. I'd also like to hear more about your 100 year old hydrangea hedge! Hope your luck continues! Thanks Karalyn

The traveling shooting star has been outside on the deck day and night (temps around 45) for a week. The new leaves are turning a funny rusty brown color, but the blossoms remain. The 100 yr old hedge continues to be prolific in late blooms....heads often 10-12 inches across and a lovely blue. I had to replace one a few years back and was very disappointed with the new Nikko blue! Nothing like the older variety and not doing well. My mother before me, and I allow a nice Greek lady from the Boston area to cut blossoms for drying and selling at her Church Fair. Many Cape Codders fear people stealing their Hydrangeas, but we like helping young people in this way. Last summer I was on my front porch when a car stopped and a young woman leaned out of the passenger side window and tried to grab some off my roadside Hydrangea with the biggest bloom. She saw me and screamed at her husband to flee....but alas the tough stems did not yield to her mischief. If she had asked me, I would have cut some for her.

Emily, glad your shooting star made it! Your 100 year old hydrangea hedge sounds gorgeous! I would love to see pics. How far down the side does your hydrangea hedge go? That is too bad people stop to take cuttings. Sounds like hydrangeas are all the rage there in Capecod. I have an array of hydrangeas in my front garden circling my crepe myrtle tree. They are about 10 to 12 years old. The past two years they have been blooming a kalidescope(ph) of colors. Here's the latest pic of my shooting star and it's first bloom of the season. It made it too!
