Wow... I can see how this would be a nuisance. We don't have any in lower MI but there are some in the Upper Peninsula. I've seen one moose in my life...a cow in Alberta. They are awesome though, even if I wouldn't want them for neighbors.

Very cool, I am guessing since this is an older calf mom isn't as skittish. I heard cow moose with young were more dangerous than bull moose!

Thanks for sharing this. I love moose, they are my favorite animal, but I'm sure I would not want them bothering my dogs or flowers. LOL. How amazing they just come right up to your home like that. Incredible.

yes it is fun to see them up close but cow moose can be very mean and nasty most will run when you try to scare them off but this cow is not scared at all. trying to get her to leave is a real challange. the dogs won't quit barking till they leave. 34 dogs barking make a lot of noise at 3 am.

Oh my. I can imagine. The moose must be so used to people he's just not scared. Its crazy that the dozens of dogs barking doesn't scare them away... let us know if anyone gives you an idea that works to scare them away.

Sometimes they become almost tame. There was a famous moose in Methuen, Massachusetts, who would stick his head through this family's kitchen window and eat salad off the table.

It must be fascinating to have them so close.

i have seen email pictures of a guy that rased a orphen bull calf and at some point trained it to pull timber like a draft horse. he said that it takes off for a couple of weeks in the fall but comes back. the pictures i saw he had the full grown bull large antler rack and all decked out in horse harness. he said that it is the best work animal he has ever seen.

I love to see photos of moose. The first one I saw up close and personal I found quite frightening. I wasn't expecting them to be so huge!! Mama moose looks pretty big! Must be amazing to see them!

It HAD to be Bullwinkle.
I have not seen one in the wild and would like to some day.
Do they eat plants in your garden Lisa?

yes they will, as in distroy not just nibble like a deer. they love to eat broccoli, peas, coliflowr, brussel sprouts, cabbage ect. and they will eat it all if you fence you patch they have to be at least 8 to 10 foot. some people use electric but they are great jumpers. so i am trying to deside if i want to plant any of the above items this year because of momma and family. but all above items go crazy up here. we all have pests alaskas are just bigger.
