This little lady raids my bird seed every night. She is a marsupial like the kangaroo and koala you can see her pouch and if you look really close you can see her baby at the top of the pic who just crawled out of the pouch for a wander. They are easy to tame and in the past I have been able to take the babies off the mother for a cuddle with no problems.

They are cute, Steve. Do they eat anything else at your place besides bird seed ... do they attempt to forage in your home? It's interesting to me that they're easy to tame. Can't think of anything comparable here. (Not even an odd cougar or two .. will never forget that statement I made. Don't have to go to the Empress Hotel in Victoria for that. We have seen evidence of one in the back field .. far too close to home!)

Diane they would get in the roof and live there if they could find a way in. But its very secure with no holes. They love to eat any kind of fruit or grain and I have had them running up to the back door for a muesli bar. They have a reputation for eating roses but I have never had a problem, maybe that is only in suburbia where their natural foods are scarcer.

Maybe that's because you treat them so nice by giving them bird seed. Whatever works, I'd do it to keep them around. What a lovely thing, to be able to cuddle a wild animal.

Too cute! I am envious of your ability to cuddle the babies!

How adorable!
I do love having a diversity of wildlife visiting my garden,
and I'm not bothered if they eat from my bird feeders.
After all, I'm the invader in their habitat,
not vise versa.
