oh, the ozarks... turns out i take very few pictures of the scenery...
waterfall in winter, hiking in flip flops.
an old homestead in the middle of nowhere, at least a five mile hike to any road.
not quite from hiking... but an emu and i squaring off on its home ground... sort of. i am sure it thinks i am bread. unsafe. (i am the one on the left)

that emu is not so far from home, just a little south. tasmania, where winter feels almost like winter.

Something about this is so beautiful, Edward. I guess it reminds me of a halcyon time from the past. I remember reading a story from that era where one of the characters said the area was getting too populated because people were moving in at only 50 miles away from him. Arkansas is a beautiful state, IMO.

well, arkansas has a small population... but i think we now have more than 50 miles in between folks. little cabins like this are all over the buffalo national river, very interesting. this one was lived in up to the 70s... national geographic did a story on the place i think. glad you enjoyed the pictures.

Lovely pictures, Edward. Arkansas surely does have it's scenic areas. Our son lived in Tahlequah and Benton so we had the opportunity to do some site seeing on our way in from TX back then. DH enjoyed taking the customers fishing on the White River. I'm betting that old house you captured was really sweet in it's day. People were paying big bucks for emu eggs back then (93-95).. I wonder if the craze is still there? I think it fizzled, didn't it?

there was a bit of a craze about emus in the area for a while... i think it has past though. you were a few years too late Steve. also, i have spent a little time fishing on the white river... the buffalo river runs into it if you go far enough. most of the scenic areas of arkansas are in the northern part of the state... very nice though. i was not aware people even knew were arkansas was...
