One of the earlier spring bloomers, Lathyrus vernus...
![]() A subspecies with narrow leaves, L. vernus ssp. gracilis: ![]() So, what other Lathyrus species (for me, preferably perennial) can all you enablers out there make us lust after? |

Pretty. Is that a sweet pea? I think I nearly bought one last month.

My Perennial Peas aren't flowering yet, so these are pics from previous years. I couldn't find a pic of them in bloom on the teepee... but I did see one where they had escaped from there and clambered over top of my Rudbeckia. LOL. Currently, they look about like they do in the May 2008 pic. Time to tie them up before they start to run away again. (And in case it's confusing, the pinkish flowers in the June 2007 pic are foxgloves in the background, not PP on the TP. LOL.)

Mariod, no, sadly, the annual sweetpeas got most of the scent in the family!

Heirloomgardens, I grew the darker Lathyrus vernus from seed that was labelled as Lathyrus latifolius, from a seed trade someone sent me... It wasn't... but that does explain why it's up against a trellis, LOL! (NB. There are also clematis on the trellis, so it's not gone to waste though.
