Default Lilies

A friend brought me some pink lilies from where he worked after Easter last year due to they were going to toss them.
He knew I loved the pinks, I planted them mid summer and last fall I got to see them bloom again!! Got to love the PNW!! Well this year these are breath taking. We are now seeing them all pop, more to come!

They are beautiful Karma. How lucky. You seem to have hit a gardening Jackpot!! I love looking at the "old throw aways" at the nursery & maybe pick up a few for little or nothing.
I've just started growing a few lilies (other than easter lilies)in the last few yrs or so. Each year they get better & better. So far I have one bright pink & 2 yellows. I broke off a few scales of the yellow (by accident) when transplanting & those are sprouting but I dont expect to see blooms for another year or so.

Beautiful. Look at all those buds still waiting to open! How long is their bloom period?

Can't believe they are open and boy are they pretty.

Bloomed in the fall? Now that's truly lucky.

Terryk, we are lucky here in we can cut some of the early bloomers back and they will bloom again in the fall, poppies are another bloomer we love seeing return. It's about timing. After seeing this flush, I'm not going to push my luck on them.

lylalevi, these came from a Portland Nursery that had gotten them from Harts Nursery and they were blooming at Easter. These were left overs that they the Portland Nursery was going to toss but rescued by my friend. So when the arrived they sat in their pots for a week to dry out so I could harvest the bulbs. I had to take out hosta to put these in. When I did they were sunk in some mulch rich soil with come compost, watered and bloomed in the fall. Yes these are asiatic lilies (Liria asiatico) according to the tag. There are things that happen here that shouldn't, believe me!!

We have a memorial bed in the center of the front yard and removed the center hosta and put them out back so we could put the lilies on both sides, there was a lot of them, 12 pots! It's was a massive pink this year and sure stop folks. We are starting to add more lilies to the yard after sending all we had to my sister in CO for her memorial garden when our Grandmother passed away. I shared the passion of lilies with Grandmother. Here are a few new ones.
