I believe that you might be refering to Eryngium foetidum. It is a different looking eryngo. Try this:

... yet instantly recognizable as an eryngium when in flower! Isn't that interesting...

Don't know if you are still interested in knowing about it...it has a much stronger flavour than cilantro but definately the same flavour profile. It is use for seasoning meats and foods. Can be crushed with thymes and garlic and other herbs for use in cooking. I like it, not very easy to grow unless you live in a fairly humid and hot place. Still proves to be a challenge at times. I grew up in the Caribbean and they would basically grow like a weed all over our yard. Just went out and plucked the leaves to use in the kitchen. I hope I am not too late with my info. and I hope it proves helpful to you.
